The small print, in plain words

Terms of subscription

What you're signing up for, what it costs, and how to leave. Written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version. The Bloop Times is a weekly email newspaper. Your first edition is free. After that it costs $9.99 a month, it renews automatically, and you can cancel at any time in two clicks. If you're unhappy in the first fourteen days, email us and we'll refund you — no questions.

1. Who you're dealing with

The Bloop Times is published by Rossing T&M, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands, trading as BloopUniverse.

  • Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 98932640
  • VAT identification number: NL005362628B32
  • Address: Groningerweg 24, 9321 AD Peize, the Netherlands
  • Email: editor@bloopuniverse.com

Write to that address about anything — a question, a complaint, a correction. It reaches a person, not a queue.

2. What you get

The Bloop Times is an email newspaper about films: bloopers, behind-the-scenes stories, and movie news. There are two ways to read it.

  • Free. Sign up and we send you one complete sample edition, plus a few follow-up letters over the following two weeks. That's it — no card, no charge.
  • Bloop Times Insider. A paid subscription. A new edition every Friday morning, plus access to the archive of past editions.

3. Price, payment and renewal

Bloop Times Insider costs $9.99 per month, charged in advance. The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

$9.99 is the whole price. Prices are shown in US dollars and include any VAT or sales tax that applies where you live — nothing is added at checkout. What the page says is what leaves your account.

If we ever change the price, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and you're free to cancel before it takes effect.

4. Cancelling

Cancel whenever you like, from the subscription link in any edition or by emailing editor@bloopuniverse.com. You'll keep receiving editions until the end of the month you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.

We don't hide the cancel button, ask you to phone anyone, or make you explain yourself.

5. Refunds

If you're not happy with your subscription within fourteen days of your first payment, email us and we'll refund it in full.

Consumers in the European Union have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within fourteen days. Because we deliver the first edition immediately, that right can in principle be affected — so we simply don't rely on it. The refund above is offered regardless, and it doesn't limit any right you have under the law of the country you live in.

6. What you may do with an edition

Editions are for you. Forward one to a friend if you like — we'd rather you did than didn't. What we ask is that you don't republish editions publicly, sell them, or feed them into a service that redistributes them.

The writing and layout are ours. Film stills, thumbnails and quotations belong to their respective owners and appear here for commentary and reporting.

7. Accuracy, and what we do when we're wrong

Every factual claim we print is traceable to a source, and the sources appear in the paper. Where a story is famous but unconfirmed, we say so rather than repeating it as fact.

We still get things wrong sometimes. When that happens we print a correction in the next edition. If you spot one, tell us at editor@bloopuniverse.com — corrections are published and credited.

8. Publishing schedule

We aim to publish every Friday. Very occasionally life gets in the way and an edition is late or skipped. If we ever stop publishing altogether, we'll refund the unused part of any subscription that's been paid for.

9. What this is and isn't

The Bloop Times is journalism and entertainment about films. It isn't professional advice of any kind, and nothing in it should be relied on as such.

We do our best to keep the paper arriving and the website up, but we can't promise either will be available without interruption. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect. Continuing your subscription after that means you accept the new terms; if you'd rather not, cancel and we'll refund the remainder of the period you've paid for.

11. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away the protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can bring a dispute before the courts there.

Before it comes to that, please email editor@bloopuniverse.com. Most things are solved in one message.
