Short, because there isn't much to tell. The website tracks nothing; the newsletter needs your email address and that's about it.
The short version. This website sets no cookies and collects nothing about you. When you sign up, we get your email address and use it to send you the paper. If you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment and we never see your card. You can leave in one click, and we'll delete your details if you ask.
Rossing T&M, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands, trading as BloopUniverse and publishing The Bloop Times, is the controller of the personal data described here.
bloopuniverse.com is a set of static pages. It runs no analytics, no tracking scripts and no advertising, and it sets no cookies. We cannot see who visits it or what they read.
Two honest footnotes. The pages load typefaces from Google Fonts and video thumbnails from YouTube's image servers, which means your browser contacts Google when a page loads and Google can see your IP address. And the site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests in order to deliver the pages and protect against attacks.
Your email address, and your name if you choose to give one. We use it for one thing: sending you The Bloop Times. The legal basis is the agreement between us — you asked for the paper and we send it.
Our email platform records whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use it to see which editions land and which don't. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the paper is any good. It is never used to build a profile of you, and it is never sold or shared.
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. What we can see is that a payment succeeded, your name, your email address and your country — enough to know you're a subscriber and to keep proper books. The legal basis is our agreement with you, and for the accounting records, our legal obligation.
Mail to editor@bloopuniverse.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing into a mailbox we read. We keep correspondence as long as it's useful, and no longer.
Each of these is bound by a processing agreement, and transfers outside the European Economic Area take place under the safeguards those agreements provide. We do not sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Payment and invoicing records are kept for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it. Everything else goes when it stops being useful.
Under the GDPR you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, hand it over in a portable form, or object to us processing it. You can withdraw consent at any time — for the newsletter, that's the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, which works in one click and needs no explanation.
Email editor@bloopuniverse.com and we'll handle it. If you think we've got it wrong, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in the country you live in.
The Bloop Times isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, tell us and we'll delete it.
If we change how we handle your data in a way that matters, we'll update this page and email subscribers about it.
